UNICRI condemns the terrorist attacks in Algiers

December 2007. UNICRI is deeply shocked by the tragic bombing in Algiers and would like to convey its condolences to the families of all the victims of this atrocity. This terror attack has struck the UN family and the people of Algeria to the core.

Sandro Calvani, UNICRI Director said "This attack is against all the principles for which the UN stands and most of all is against humanity. Once again terrorists have inflicted death upon innocent civilians, demonstrating that terrorism has no respect for the dignity of human life and the work of humanitarian aid agencies."

"Terrorism is spreading death and destruction all around the world with no regard for global efforts to bring peace and development where it is needed most. UNICRI confirms its commitment to condemning terrorism and promoting solidarity with the countries suffering as victims of this, the most horrible of crimes."

UNICRI fully endorses the United Nations' clear, principled and irrefutable message that terrorism is unacceptable and emphasises that terrorists must never be allowed to create a pretext for their actions.
