Workshop on Radicalization and Extremism that Lead to Terrorism
Improving Knowledge and Creating Networks

Turin, 7 April 2008. On behalf of the UN Counter Terrorism Implementation Task Force (CTITF), The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) will host a Workshop on Addressing Radicalization and Extremism that Lead to Terrorism at its Headquarters in Turin on 17 and 18 April.

UNICRI is a member of the United Nations Counter Terrorism Implementation Task Force (CTITF), co-leading the Working Group on 'Addressing Radicalization and Extremism that Lead to Terrorism'. The goal of the Working Group is to provide member states with a set of examples, general principles, and best practices to help them address radicalisation and extremism that lead to terrorism.

The workshop in Turin will be attended by Governmental and Non-Governmental representatives as well as academics and researchers from 17 countries and 8 institutions from different parts of the world. The workshop will provide an opportunity to debate, discuss and exchange ideas, experiences and opinions related to radicalization and de-radicalisation, the phenomenon and of the strategies to reduce it.

The workshop will also contribute to the development of a worldwide network of experts that are currently involved in addressing radicalization and de-radicalisation.
