The Office of Public Counsel for the Defence of the International Criminal Court
The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) in cooperation with the International Criminal Court Office of Public Counsel for the Defence (ICC-OPCD) and the Turin Bar Association will host a 5-day Seminar on International Criminal Law Defence.
The Seminar will consist of two modules: the first one (4 days) will be devoted to defence strategies and procedural issues before international jurisdictions, whilst the second one (1 day) will focus on the collection of evidence of war crimes at the field level and their use before national and international jurisdictions.
Thanks to the participation of renowned experts, the Seminar represents a unique opportunity to acquire a deep understanding of defence in the area of international criminal law.
The Seminar is designed for practicing and trainee lawyers interested in the practice of international criminal law whether in national or international courts, and those professionals working with organizations involved in this area.
The Seminar is held in English, therefore a good command of the language is required.

2. Applicants requiring VISA (IMPORTANT)
Those applicants requiring VISA and needing the Seminar Administrative Office assistance in facilitating its release are kindly requested to submit an early application and to notify the Seminar Administrative Office on this need.
Please consider that issuance of a VISA by Italian Embassies and Consulates takes up to 30 days.
UNICRI can not be held accountable in case of visa refusal.
3. Fees and accommodation
A limited number of fee exemptions are available. The full exemption from the tuition fee will preferably be granted to women and candidates from developing countries, based on merit.
The registration fee does not cover expenses such as those related to travel, meals, accommodation, and VISA.
The Seminar Administrative Office is available to provide assistance for those needing accommodation.
4. Certificate of participation
Lectures are held all day from Monday 24 through Friday 28 April 2017.
Upon attendance of all the lectures and completion of the course, participants will receive a United Nations certificate of participation. Attendance is compulsory for the whole duration of the course.
The Turin Bar Association will grant 20 credits to Italian members of the bar attending the Seminar.
Absence grounded on serious reasons may be considered at the Organizers discretion.
5. Cancellation and Refunds
In the event of a participant cancellation, registration fees will not be refunded.
