 TITLE
TERRORISM AND THE MARITIME TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM
 ABSTRACT
The book tries to answer the question of how the international community should react to the threat posed by new forms of terrorism and maritime piracy, and analyses the links between the two phenomena. It is divided into three sections: the first provides a new and innovative definition of terrorism and criminal organization, the second analyses the actors in the maritime environment and the third underlines areas and issues of concern which are not always taken into account, as well as vulnerable spots in the current system. The book was published as a result of a four-year long survey taken among law enforcement officers, intelligence, security and emergency management personnel.
